Citrus Lane – June 2014

I decided to give Citrus Lane a try for my son.  I was able to take advantage of a discount offer and received the first box for $9.00 (regularly $29). Who could say no to that?  For those of you who don’t know, Citrus Lane is a subscription box service geared at children.  They have three different delivery options: $29/month for a monthly subscription, $24/month for a three month subscription, or $21/month for a six month subscription. You can let them know the gender and age of your child so that you get items tailored to your kid.  I have a 20 month old boy so let’s see what they picked for him!

wet bag croppedWet Bag from Bumkins ($10.95)

We found that this versatile wet bag has become one of our favorite things. Great for keeping an extra change of clothes accessible, and for storing a wet outfit or bathing suit after a dip in the pool (or after an accident while out and about). Made from Bumpkins easy wipe waterproof fabric.  PVC, BPA, phthalate, vinyl and lead free.

I’m sure this will find a purpose… I’m just not sure where yet!

Pouch Puzzle from MudPuppy ($10.99)puzzle cropped

These award-winning 12 Piece Puzzles are designed with extra-thick pieces so they’re a great introduction to a jig saw puzzle.  We like the colorful artwork and the reusable pouch to keep all of the pieces together. We’re sending this a little early, so you may need to help your little one at first.

The puzzle is a little too advanced for Charlie but I know he’ll love it eventually!

cup croppedZoo Straw Bottle from Skip Hop ($6.00)

At some point during the toddler and preschool years, little ones move on from sippy cups.  The Zoo Straw Bottle helps ease this transition by giving little ones a “big-kid cup” with the protection of a flip-top lid.  Dishwasher safe; also comes with an extra straw and a Velcro strap to easily attach to a back pack, diaper bag, or stroller. Be sure to check out adorable coordinating items in our shop.

Charlie’s favorite word right now is “cup” so I know this will be getting used right away!

Mighty 4 Bars from Plum Organics ($4.99 for box of six ($0.83 each))bars cropped

Mighty 4™ essential nutrition bars are baked with whole grains, fruits, veggies and a touch of yogurt – 4 food groups are represented in every bar! These yummy, organic bars pack a mighty punch with 11 essential vitamins & minerals and 5 grams of whole grains. And they’re sized just right for your little on-the-go eater.

Coupon: $1.00 off and one mighty snack (bars, puffs or pouch).

I’ve tried other organic bars for Charlie before and he’s not a fan but I’ll at least try giving him these.

Overall Impressions of Citrus Lane:

I was a little underwhelmed by this box. The items came to a total of $29.60. I’m pretty happy that I only paid $9.00 for this box.  Had I paid full price ($29), I think I would be just a tad disappointed.  This box barely covered the monthly cost of the subscription. I’m on the fence if I’m going to continue this subscription service or cancel it. What do you think?
